Classic Gene Walker Interview on WCBE's Jazz Sunday

http://www.jazzartsgroup.org/

The late Columbus-born  saxophonist Gene Walker was a world class musician, educator, jazz advocate AND local historian.  He shares all these gifts with WCBE listeners in this archival interview (circa Spring 2012).

Gene's wisdom and warmth can be heard in his "smiling" voice. You'll also hear our profuse appreciation of Mr. Walker,  K.C. Jones and I are so thankful that we were able to "give Gene his roses while he was living'" as the saying goes.

Jack Marchbanks grew up in Dayton during the 1970s funk explosion in Southwestern Ohio. Grounded in R&B and rock, Marchbanks came to appreciate jazz much later in life. But, as the saying goes, converts make the most zealous advocates.
