Even though the school shooting in Chardon is still fresh in many people’s minds, the state attorney general says dozens of schools across Ohio have yet to file school floor plans and safety plans with his office that could help police deal with similar emergencies and hostage situations. Mike DeWine says some schools are ignoring a state law that requires the filings. He tells statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen that when the plans ARE filed, they’re put into a computer system that police can instantly access in an emergency at a school.
