Columbus Collects More Red Light Camera Fine Money

The city of Columbus collected 2.1 million dollars in fines from its red light camera program last year. That's an increase of one million from the previous year. City officials continue to claim the cameras are designed to improve safety. Opponents claim they are designed to boost city coffers. Two state lawmakers have introduced legislation prohibiting cities from installing red light and speed cameras. Columbus began installation in 2008.
