Cincinnati And Other Cities Look At Inner-City Bike-Share Program

Cincinnati visitors and residents soon will have a new way to get around downtown and the Over-the-Rhine Historic District. Starting this summer, more than 200 bikes will be available at 20 stations for a daily or annual fee. The bike-share program is like others throughout the United States, including in Columbus, New York, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco and Phoenix. Cleveland is exploring the possibility. The University of Toledo is working on a program as well. Cincy Bike Share is working on raising the 1.4 million dollar needed for the stations and bicycles, and the 500 thousand dollars needed for annual operations. Annual memberships would run between 75 and 85 dollars. Daily use would cost 7 to 8 dollars.
