Columbus Firefighter Appealing His Termination

A Columbus firefighter found guilty by his supervisors of having sex with a young woman in a fire station is appealing the city's decision to fire him. Columbus Safety Director Mitch Brown last week went along with the fire division's recommendation to terminate Marc Cain for dishonesty, insubordination and failure of good behavior. Division officials last week found Battalion Chief Jerry Birkhimer guilty of more than 20 internal violations for helping with a cover up. He faces a suspension and possible demotion. Brown will have the final say on the recommended punishment.
