The debate over Ohio’s energy efficiency and renewable standards attracts a variety of viewpoints. That includes the perspective of a team of veterans and national security experts who promote green energy.
Operation Free believes America’s dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil poses a national security threat.
The group’s leader, Michael Breen is a former captain in the U.S. Army who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He says Ohio must keep its energy standards to lead the country in the right direction.
Breen: “Advanced renewable power generation—those are jobs that can’t be outsourced and that’s power sources that’re found here in-state so fostering the development of that industry is a really good idea for Ohio’s future regardless of climate.”
Breen was in Columbus to discuss a new report that outlines how climate change can pose a risk to national security.
