Possible Increase In Health Insurance Premiums Next Year

The Ohio Department of Insurance says people purchasing health coverage through the federal marketplace could see a 13 percent increase in average premiums next year. The department is run by Republican Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, a vocal critic of the Affordable Care act. The figures are averages of proposed rates. The figures do not take into account federal subsidies or other factors that could change the price. The agency is expected to approve final rates this summer. Sixteen companies want to offer plans next year. 12 are selling plans this year.
