Ohio Beaches Again Ranked Most Polluted In The Nation

An annual report by the Natural Resources Defense Council says ten percent of the nation's beaches are too polluted to meet federal safety benchmarks.  The report says beaches on the Great Lakes have the highest levels of pollution. Ohio is ranked last out of the 30 states examined in the report, based on the number of water quality tests showing levels of bacteria above safety standards. Seven northeast Ohio beaches are ranked among the most contaminated in the nation. The report says most of the pollution is caused by storm water runoff and sewage overflows.
