Maggots in food, staffing shortages and multiple reports of food shortages are among new complaints facing the vendor that won the contract to serve food to Ohio prison inmates. Records obtained by The Associated Press show numerous problems have been reported since April, when the state prison system fined Aramark Correctional Services because of contract failures. The records show 65 instances where company employees failed to provide food or ran out of it. The records also show five cases of maggots found in food or the food preparation process, and several days when Aramark employees failed to show up for work. Aramark says it's the victim of an anti-privatization campaign and problems are declining.
