Work is underway to remove the Santa Maria from its dock on the Scioto River in downtown Columbus, but its future remains unclear. The group that operates the vessel needs to raise one million dollars for repairs before it can return to the river in 2016. The vessel is being moved to make way for downtown riverbank restoration.
