The owners of polluted land in the Clyde, Ohio area have joined a civil lawsuit against Whirlpool corporation filed by families whose children have been sickened in a cancer cluster. The group's lawsuit links the company's washing machine factory in Clyde to the cancer cases. The lawsuit says a chemical compound suspected of causing cancer came from the plant. Whirlpool claims the allegations are not based on scientific or medical fact. 35 kids have been diagnosed with cancer and three have died since the mid-1990s.
