Greenpeace Activist Charged In Protest At P&G Dies

Hamilton County Sheriff

Greenpeace says one of nine activists charged with felony counts in an eye-catching protest at Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble headquarters has died.

Tyler Wilkerson was 27 when he died last week. A cause of death was not made public. An obituary published Oct. 10 in the Fresno, California Bee newspaper stated that he served as a U.S. Marine in Afghanistan and Iraq.  He was among eight activists scheduled for trial in Cincinnati on Oct. 27. One has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.  The activists were arrested at P&G on March 4 on burglary and vandalism charges after protesting the consumer products company's use of palm oil from a supplier Greenpeace says is tied to tropical forest destruction in Indonesia.
