For 15 years, Ohio kids have honored the memory of Doctor Martin Luther King Junior by competing in an annual oratory contest with a theme inspired by the slain civil rights leader.
Last week, an audience came together in a downtown Columbus church to hear the winners perform their entries, on the theme of building a loving, nonviolent community. In order, 8th grader Courtney Stewart of Columbus, first grader James Oram of Columbus, and Ohio Northern University freshman John Merkle of Lima.
