Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to hold a pretrial conference on how to handle classified information in their case against a Southwest Ohio man accused of plotting to attack the U.S. Capitol and kill federal officials and workers.
A motion filed Monday asks U.S. District Judge Sandra Beckwith for a meeting about the Christopher Lee Cornell case and anticipated classified information issues. Beckwith last week set a March 2 trial date after Cornell pleaded not guilty to three charges including attempted murder of U.S. officials and employees. The FBI says Cornell wanted to "wage jihad" by attacking the Capitol with pipe bombs and shooting government officials and employees. His father says he was "coerced" by a plant. The FBI has said a confidential informant was involved.
