ODRC Disciplines Four Employees For September Prison Escape

Toledo Blade

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections has disciplined four employees for lapses that helped the Chardon High School shooter and two other inmates escape from the Allen Correctional Institution near Lima last September. The department says a technician failed to report he had not repaired a security camera, a maintenance supervisor and a repair worker put the wrong kind of lock on a door and a guard failed to properly conduct rounds. Each have been suspended for one or two days. The agency previously reassigned the warden and demoted the deputy warden.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
