Community Relations Board Member Reprimanded For Social Media Postings

clecityhall.com

Cleveland Community Relations Board chair Blaine Griffin has been reprimanded and has issued an apology for several social media postings that referenced other sites of tension between police and the public and invited comments on whether the city should "be burned down." Griffin says the postings were intended to spark a dialogue.  Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson also says the board's social media account has been shut down.

Jackson says the messages were posted as the city prepares for possible reaction to the verdict in the manslaughter trial of officer Michael Brelo, who is charged in the fatal shootings of two unarmed African-Americans after a car chase in November 2012.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
