Licking County Teen Sentenced For Making Threat Against Elementary School

An 11-year-old boy has been placed on probation after pleading guilty Monday to charges of typing a threatening, racist message on a Newton Elementary School Computer in Licking County last September. The former Newton sixth-grader pleaded guilty to a delinquency count of inducing panic. The message threatened the school and blacks. The boy must also attend counseling sessions and write letters of apology to staff and students. Sheriff's deputies say the threat is not connected to two letters earlier this year that threatened violence at Utica High School homecoming activities because of interracial dating. An investigation of those threats continues. The name of the boy has not been released.
