Former KSU Athlete Sues School, Ex-coach

A former Kent State University softball player and current student has filed a lawsuit claiming her coach and the school engaged in a cover-up and failed to follow federal guidelines after she reported being raped by the coach's son.  Laura Kesterson says she was raped by then-coach Karen Linder's son in December 2012. The lawsuit says she told the coach about the attack in 2014 and a university official in August 2015. The lawsuit alleges the coach failed to report the allegation to the university, and school officials failed to follow procedures. Linder resigned in August 2015.   A Kent State spokesperson declined comment.
