First Of Two Suspects Convicted In Southeast Side Shooting Death

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

Sentencing is scheduled April 28 for a Columbus man who has pleaded guilty to the drive-by shooting death of a 16-year-old boy. 23-year-old Dustin Parsley admits killing Jesse Cervantez last summer in front of the victim's home on South Sixth Street near Reeb Avenue. Prosecutors say Parsley opened fire into a crowd of people, but missed the target of a longstanding feud.  The driver of the car, 22-year-old Alexandria Bowen, will go on trial March 28 on charges of tampering with evidence and witness intimidation.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
