A group of Columbus residents is pushing for the creation of a citizens police review board in the wake of several officer-involved shootings. Columbus Citizens for Police Review also wants to reduce the amount of policing in the community. The group's attempt to establish a board through a ballot initiative in 2015 failed. The Columbus Fraternal Order of Police opposes a civilian review board. Since Columbus' elected leaders rely on union support to win elections, a review board likely will be difficult to establish.
