City Grant Money Will Help Relocate Some Homeless Persons
Plans to move homeless people from the Faith Mission and other shelters into a building on North Grant Avenue are proceeding. City Council has approved giving 2 million dollars in grant money to Lutheran Social Services to renovate the Grant Avenue building. The homeless are being moved so that a developer can turn the Faith Mission and two adjacent buildings into a retail and residential complex. The move brings the Faith Mission closer to the kitchen it opened three years ago on Grant Avenue. Council member Priscilla Tyson sponsored the legislation.
Tyson says renovation work will be completed in December, with homeless relocation expected in mid-January.
