Strickland Ads Attack Portman's Stance On Trump

WCBE files

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Ted Strickland has released a series of TV ads criticizing Republican incumbent Rob Portman for the timing of his decision late Saturday to retract his support of Donald Trump. It happened more than 24 hours after a video featuring Trump making lewd, sexually charged remarks was condemned as offensive, inappropriate and sickening by other Republicans. The ads call Portman cowardly and liken the moral calculation on Trump to those made around anti-communist crusader Joseph McCarthy or George Wallace, the segregationist Alabama governor who ran for president in the 1970s. The progressive group MoveOn.org is targeting a similar message at conservative Christian women, urging them to support Strickland and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
