Local Judge Finalizes Ruling Allowing ODE To Audit ECOT Attendance Records

A Franklin County judge has finalized a ruling allowing the Ohio Department of Education to review attendance records that could force Ohio's largest online charter school operators to return millions in state funding.  The decision rejects a request by the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow blocking the state from requiring the school to provide log-in durations as a way of measuring attendance.  The state has said ECOT's enrollment is nearly 60 percent lower than originally reported, potentially jeopardizing 60 million dollars in state funding from last year.  ECOT has said it will appeal.
