Ohio Boy Getting Experimental MD Treatment

akronchildrens.org

A seven-year-old Ravenna boy is the first in Ohio to undergo a potentially life-saving treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  Wyatt Hubbard is being treated with what doctors at Akron Children's Hospital call a breakthrough drug that could stop the effects of Duchenne, which is considered to be the most severe form of the disease.  The drug, Exondys 51, was recently approved for human trial by the federal government.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
