Federal Judge Sanctions Local Law Firm For Role In Libertarian Ballot Access Fight

A federal judge has sanctioned a central Ohio law firm for its conduct during a legal fight over efforts by Republicans to help Governor John Kasich's 2014 re-election bid. The judge has ordered Zeiger, Tigges & Little to pay 15-hundred dollars, saying two subpoenas the firm served on attorneys for the Libertarian Party of Ohio served little purpose other than to "badger or intimidate" opposing counsel. Libertarians lost the case last year alleging Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted and a Libertarian voter schemed to selectively enforce election law to disqualify gubernatorial candidate Charlie Earl. A Republican consultant secretly hired Zeiger to represent the voter.
