Ohio Republican Congressman and former combat surgeon Brad Wenstrup was pressed into action this morning during the shooting at the Republican congressional baseball practice. Wenstrup, a U.S. Army Reserve colonel who served at an Army hospital in Iraq in 2005 and 2006, was the first to reach Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise.
Scalise continues recovering from surgery. Wenstrup praised Capitol police for taking out the gunman and the emergency responders who showed up at the scene quickly in Alexandria.
