Columbus City Council last night approved spending 17.1 million dollars for a project to expand and improve a 1.28 mile stretch of Alum Creek Drive from Performance Way to Integrity Drive North. Sponsoring Council member Shannon Hardin.
Most of the money comes from the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Public Works Commission. The city's 2.9 million dollar share of the project cost comes from voter approved bond money. Council also approved the creation of a tax increment financing and cooperative agreement with the Columbus-Franklin County Finance Authority, Pizzuti Land LLC and Pizzuti Rickenbacker West LLC for the second phase of development of a distribution center near Rickenbacker Airport. And council approved a new contract with the Ohio Labor Council, representing 53 crime analysts, police evidence technicians, forensic scientists and other public safety workers. A city spokesperson says the three-year deal has already been approved by the union.
The deal that runs through mid-2020 includes a 3 percent yearly pay increase and requires workers to pay more for health insurance premiums.
