A Franklin County grand jury has indicted man accused of fatally shooting two Westerville police officers responding to a 911 hang-up call on charges that carry the possibility of a death sentence.

31-year-old Quentin Smith is charged with aggravated murder for allegedly killing officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli on February 10. Smith was shot and wounded and hospitalized for several days. Prosecutors say the case is eligible for the death penalty because police officers were killed in the line of duty.
