Grand Jury Clears White Columbus Cops In Shooting Death Of Black Man

Jones family

A Franklin County grand jury has cleared two white Columbus police officers of wrongdoing for their roles in a fatal shooting last year.

Jurors said Samuel James and Marc Johnson were justified in killing 30-year-old Kareem Ali Nadir Jones on Schultz Avenue. The officers said Jones pulled a gun out of his waistband during a foot chase.  Jones' family has filed a lawsuit against the city.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
