Athens City Schools officials have hired an investigator to probe claims by a former student that a school board member mishandled her sexual assault complaints against a fellow student made seven years ago.
20-year-old Emmalyn Brown is working to have Paul Grippa removed from the board. She says when he was principal at Athens Middle School, he did not believe her claims of being sexually harassed and assaulted by a classmate. She says he showed favoritism toward the alleged assailant. Grippa has declined comment.
