Columbus school board member Mary Jo Hudson is resigning, citing the failure of the district's oversight model.
The resignation was announced this morning, less than 48 hours after board president Gary Baker silenced Hudson while she pressed for an immediate discussion of a task forces' recommendation to close school buildings that was dismissed by a board vote last month. Hudson said that vote was held without prior discussion. Baker previously killed her admitting the board violated open meetings laws during the first of two searches for a new superintendent. In a letter to the district, Hudson says she will resign on December 31.
