Grand Jury Clears Three Local Cops In Fatal Shooting Of Fleeing Suspect

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

A Franklin County grand jury has declined to indict three Franklin Township police officers for their roles in the fatal shooting of a driver during an attempted traffic stop in May.

Prosecutors say deputy Jacob Heaberlin tried to stop 55-year-old Darrell Bruffy, who was driving eratically. Bruffy crashed near a gas station and shot and wounded Heaberlin. Heaberlin and two other responding officers returned fire.
