Liberty Township's Plan To End EMS Service Draws Public Opposition

The future of Liberty Township emergency management services is still undecided despite a public meeting yesterday with trustees.

Residents packed the meeting room to voice their opposition or support  of a new measure merging township services with Delaware County.  It would mean the elimination of 30 jobs in the township Fire Department. Some trustees want to see the measure go before voters. Debate will continue at their next meeting during the first week of January. Trustees yesterday voted to extend the employment of Medical Director Warren Yamarick through the end of January.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
