Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther sends his 940 million dollar capital improvements budget proposal to city council tonight.

Jim Letizia has more.

The plan includes 16 million dollars in funding to build infrastructure around a proposed downtown soccer stadium for the Columbus Crew SC; 3 million for what is called a “real-time crime center” and 14 million dollars for a preschool on the Hilltop. 562 million dollars goes toward public utilities projects. 11 million is set aside to build a new fire station in Linden;  32 million is set aside for street repairs. 10 million dollars will be spend on affordable housing efforts, and nearly 4 million is set aside for housing demolition. Council is expected to vote in early June after it sponsors four public meetings this month. Last year's budget exceeded 1 billion dollars.
