ACLU Argues Congressional District Map Redraw Should Proceed

aclu.org

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to let congressional redistricting procedures proceed.

A federal appeals court earlier this month ordered the state to redraw the map by June 14, saying the current map favors Republicans over Democrats. Republican Ohio Attorney General David Yost asked the justices to block that order. The ACLU says there would be no harm to to the state to begin remapping procedures, but delaying having a new map ready for the 2020 elections would harm voters. The American Civil Liberties Union attorneys are representing voter rights and Democratic groups who challenged the constitutionality of the current map.
