Triple-A predicts a record of nearly 43 million Americans will travel 50 or more miles from home this Memorial Day holiday, including nearly 1.7 million Ohioans.
The travel period runs through Monday. This marks a 3.3 percent increase over the same period a year ago. Spokesperson Mike Blasky says the increase comes at a time of solid consumer spending as well as job and income growth.
More than 90 percent of Ohio travelers will drive to their destinations this holiday period, up by 3.3 percent from last year.
