A three-judge panel of the Second Ohio District Court of Appeals has denied West Liberty High School shooter Ely Serna's appeal of his conviction and sentence.
The panel says the trial judge acted properly in handing down a 23-and-a-half year sentence to Serna for the 2017 shooting. Serna's attorney argued the judge erred in researching a prescription drug he used and failed to account for his age in sentencing.
