Committee Recommends CCS Proceed With Levy Request

A special committee is recommending the Columbus Board of Education proceed with plans for a 4.7 mill permanent improvement levy.

The levy would continue the work begun with the "Operation Fix-It" initiative four years ago, that has plowed 125 million dollars into maintaining and improving buidlings and grounds.  It would also include point-two mills for technology improvements, a need which has become increasingly apparent as schools around the country struggle to provide distance learning.  The board must vote by June 16th to put the proposal on the November ballot.  Committee members acknowledged  with unprecedented unemployment, passage could be an uphill battle.
