Columbus Tourism Bureau Asking Businesses To Reopen Safely
State officials said Sunday Ohio now has 33 thousand confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 6 thousand hospitalizations and 1944 deaths.
As Ohio slowly reopens from COVID-19 related closures, the head of Columbus' convention and visitors bureau notes the region is not yet ready to fully accept visitors. Brian Ross is CEO of Experience Columbus:
Ross says Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther is taking a thoughtful and responsible approach to reopening the city, but its still too soon to say when Columbus will be ready to welcome tourists:
Some restaurants remain closed because they cannot adhere to social distancing requirements. The city's science center and museum are expected to reopen this week. All large events have been canceled through July. Ross says his agency has created a marketing campaign asking organizations and businesses to pledge to reopen safely. Participating organizations pledge to follow Centers for Disease Control, state and local health protocols, wear personal protective equipment and continue practicing social distancing.
