The Gahanna Jefferson Education Association has voted to go on strike beginning today at 12 different locations.
This after the union and the school district failed to reach a new contract agreement. Talks have been held since the current deal ended in June. The union represents more than 570 teachers. COVID-19 procedures to protect students and staff, and provide an equitable learning environment are among the sticking points. The district says it plans to continue education by using a combination of Gahanna Jefferson teachers and substitutes from the Educational Service Center.
