Survey: Most Americans Will Follow COVID-19 Safety Guidelines This Holiday Season
An Ohio State University Medical Center survey shows the majority of Americans plan to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines during the holidays. Those include social distancing and asking people with symptoms to not attend. But a significant number may be exposing themselves or their guests to risk. Nearly 40 percent say they plan to attend a gathering with more than 10 people. And a third of respondents say they will not ask guests to wear masks. Doctor Iahn Gonsenhauser says that kind of casual behavior fuels the spread of the coronavirus:
Gonsenhauser says if people do plan to have guests, seat them in groups. But the safest strategy is to communicate virtually, and cancel in-person plans.
