Judge Orders Hospital To Continue Controversial COVID Treatment Pending Review

A judge is ordering West Chester Hospital to continue treating a patient with a controversial medication, at least for now.

51-year old Jeffrey Smith has COVID-19 and is hospitalized on a ventilator. His wife Valerie sued the hospital when they refused to give him Ivermectin, a drug used as a dewormer for horses and livestock, that some claim can help treat coronavirus in humans.

Closing arguments in the lawsuit wrapped up today in Butler County and Judge Michael Oster ordered the hospital to continue giving Smith the Ivermectin through Monday, while he has a chance to review the arguments.
