Lawsuit Blames Local Woman's Death On Listeria From Dole Plant

A newly-filed wrongful death lawsuit alleges a 79-year-old Franklin County woman died in February from eatiung listeria-contaminated salad processed at the Dole plant in Springfield. The lawsuit accuses the company of failing to prevent contamination. Dole has declined comment, but in responding to a separate lawsuit, the company denies responsibility for a woman who got sick and was left in a coma. Federal authorities so far have confirmed 19 human illnesses and one death.
