Macy's To Close 40 Stores; Warren County To Benefit

Cincinnati-based Macy's says it will close 40 stores and cut thousands of jobs in an attempt to save 400-million-dollars due to poor holiday sales. The retailer says sales fell 5.2 percent in November and December due to warm weather and lower spending by international tourists. Two of the store closures are in Ohio -- one in Elyria, another in Akron. The company has published a list of closures on its website. Warren County will benefit. The chain will bring dozens of jobs to its Deerfield Township call center after it closes an office in St. Louis. Macy's expects fourth quarter and full year profit to fall short of its previous estimate.
