Mother Of Pike County Slayings Suspect Pleads Guilty

Pike County Sheriff's Office

The mother of one of four people charged in the 2016 murders of eight Rhoden family members in Pike County has pleaded guilty to charges related to the case.

66-year-old Rita Newcomb pleaded guilty to obstructing official business after prosecutors agreed to drop forgery, obstructing justice and perjury charges.  Newcomb is accused of trying to cover for her daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons who are charged in the slayings. All four have pleaded not guilty.
