OSU To Launch Preventative Health Clinic On Near East Side

Columbus Metropolitan Library

Ohio State University announced Tuesday it plans to launch a preventative care health clinic in a closed Near East side library building.

School trustees are expected Friday to approve the $245,000 price tag for the clinic to be located at the former Martin Luther King Jr. branch library on East Long Street, around the corner from OSU East Hospital.  The clinic would become the first in the school's hospital system to focus exclusively on preventing diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses through education and support.  OSU will renovated the 1970's era building next year, and open it in 2020.  The building became vacant last month, as the library moved into a new building a block away.
