Poll: Strickland's Lead Over Portman Shrinking

wcbe files

A new Quinnipiac University poll of registered Ohio voters shows Democrat Ted Strickland's lead over Republican incumbent Rob Portman in the U.S. Senate race has fallen to 3 percent, which is within the survey's margin of error. Similar Quinnipiac polls had Strickland leading Portman by nine points last April and by six points last June. This poll shows 88 percent of Ohioans do not know about the other Democrat in the race, Cincinnati City Council member P.G. Sittenfield, to form an opinion. The poll also shows 61 percent approve of the job Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich is doing in office. That matches a high-water mark set after he took office in 2011.
