A Whitehall man has been sentenced to five month in prison for his role in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

41-year old Troy Faulkner pleaded guilty nearly three months ago to destruction of government property. He was videotaped kicking in the window of the capitol building. Faulkner was wearing a coat with the name and number of his business "Faulkner Painting" on the back.

Whitehall police, who say they had arrested Faulkner in the past, forwarded the information to the FBI when the video surfaced on YouTube five days after the riot. Faulkner himself called the FBI a week later, and was arrested January 29th.

In exchange for his guilty plea, six other charges were dropped. In addition to prison time, Faulkner was sentenced to 36 months supervised release and order to pay $10,500 restitution.

More than 50 Ohioans have been charged for their suspected roles in the unrest.

A native of Chicago, naturalized citizen of Cincinnati and resident of Columbus, Alison attended Earlham College and the Ohio State University. She has equal passion for Midwest history, hockey and Slavic poetry.
