Innovative Leadership For The Health Care Industry

Universities and medical schools do a wonderful job preparing their students for medical procedures, but the crucial element to great healthcare that is missed is leadership training.  Neil Grunberg joins the show to share his experiences and how the leadership framework he developed with Maureen can be used to build the leadership skills needed by medical staff to make our healthcare system stronger.

Neil Grunberg is a professor of Military & Emergency Medicine, Medical & Clinical Psychology, and Neuroscience in the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He is also a professor in the Graduate School of Nursing; Director of Research and Development in the USU Leadership Education and Development program; and Director of Faculty Development for Military and Emergency Medicine. He is a medical and social psychologist who has been on faculty at USU since 1979. Dr. Grunberg helps train physicians, psychologists, and nurses to serve in the Armed Forces or Public Health Service, and scientists for research positions. He has published over 200 papers addressing behavioral medicine, stress, and leadership. He is a co-author with Maureen Metcalf of their new book: Innovative Leadership for Healthcare.
