Dayton Charter School Officials Indicted On Corruption Charges

A school superintendent and three more people have been indicted on federal charges alleging they used an Ohio charter school in Dayton in a corruption conspiracy. Federal and state officials in Columbus on Tuesday announced 42-year old Shane Floyd of Strongsville, 44-year old Christopher Martin of Dayton, and 38-year old Kristal Screven of Dayton were indicted on charges of conspiracy and with aiding and abetting federal programs bribery. The indictment states that the Arise Academy school operated through 2010 and received at least $10,000 a year in federal dollars through the state of Ohio. The indictment alleges that the superintendent and two board members solicited and accepted bribes from Carl Robinson of Durham, North Carolina, who operated Global Educational Consultants. Robinson was also indicted.
